Fix: Telegram code not received
One of the most common Telegram problems: you request the login code and it never comes. The cause is usually simple — here are the fixes, from the easiest to the last resort.
1. Check the number is in international format
Type the country code, then the number without a leading zero — for example +44 7XXX XXXXXX. One wrong digit sends the code to someone else's number.
2. Look for the code inside Telegram on another device
If your account is logged in on another device (desktop, tablet or Telegram Web), Telegram sends the code inside the app in the official «Telegram» chat, not by SMS. Open the other device and it's there.
3. Ask for the code another way
- Wait for the timer to end, then tap «Didn't get the code?» to request an SMS.
- A phone call is only available for accounts that have two-step verification turned on, according to Telegram.
- Some accounts are asked to log in with a code sent to their login email — check your inbox and spam.
4. Check your network and phone
- Make sure the SIM can receive SMS, and try restarting the phone.
- Turn the VPN off for a moment or switch server.
- Don't request the code over and over — too many attempts make Telegram pause sending for hours.
5. If nothing works
Contact Telegram's official support through the form at telegram.org/support, with your number and device.
⚠️ Never give the code to anyone, whoever they claim to be — it's the key to your account. Neither Telegram nor Fawri Stars will ever ask for it.
FAQ
Why does the code arrive in Telegram instead of SMS?
Because your account is open on another device, so Telegram sends it there first.
How long should I wait before requesting again?
Let the timer run out completely — repeated requests pause sending temporarily.
